Travel Tip: 3g Internet

I was the happiest man in Zimbabwe when l heard that Econet wireless Zimbabwe roled out the 3g technology on its network a few months ago. The new service was on trial for several months, with a select few put on a free trial for several months. When the service was finaly released the public had to pay $25 for initial connection and a flat rate of $25 per month from then on.

I traded in my old 1200 for 6600, paid the money and voila, l was blogging from my phone. The service was aparently over subscribed and Econet has since suspended adding any new customers to the platform. But internet starved Zimbabweans and tourists are keen to catch up with rest of the world in terms of technology and 3g could not have come at a better time.
